SEARCHING CHANGES
-
To Search a record in the Changes database for a piece of text (all or part of a word or phrase):
(1) Select the fields to be Searched. To select all the fields, check the box 'All Fields', otherwise click the box beside each field to be searched.
(2) Enter the Search String in the text box. If any of the characters are accented or non-roman or phonetic, either select the character from the appropriate drop-down list below and drag it into the text box, or select and cut and past it into the text box. To view these characters, make sure that the fonts Cardo and Junicode are installed on your machine and that your browser's active character set is UTF-8. You may also cut and paste text from any text retrieved from CoNE. (Text from some other source must be in the character set UTF-8.)
(3) Select the Restrictions for the occurrence of the string: UNRESTRICTED, EXACT MATCH, INITIAL, MEDIAL, or FINAL in the text to be searched.
(4) Select whether the search is to be case-sensitive or not. The default is NOT SENSITIVE. As with text in italics or bold, searches are NOT sensitive to text in small capitals (as, for example, in definitions). Choose NOT SENSITIVE to find any text in small capitals. Normal capitals (as in LAEME citation forms) may be made sensitive to case.
(5) Select the fields to be Displayed. To select all the fields, check the box 'All Fields', otherwise click the box beside each field to be displayed.
(6) To make the search, click the button SEARCH ETYMOLOGIES.

Please note that searches may occasionally take a few seconds to complete. In such a case, be patient, don't twitch - not everything in life has to happen instantly.
