Perspectives on nativism

A two day inter-disciplinary workshop exploring issues surrounding innate knowledge, including:

  • What kinds of knowledge might be innate?
  • How might culture and environment support innate structure?
  • What is the role of empirical work in exploring the possibility of innate knowledge?
  • How does empirical work intersect with more theoretical, conceptual issues surrounding nativism?
  • Is the concept of nativism coherent?
  • What explanatory power can be gained from positing innate structures?
