The file training-excerpt is an approximately 20-second sample of the material to which participants were exposed during the training phase.

The remaining files are based on one of the 'words' of the artificial language, namely pacóti.

The file sound_pacoti_MHM is the word itself.

The file sound_pacoti_MLM is the same string of consonants and vowels, but with the 'wrong' (low) tone on the middle syllable (i.e. pacòti), which is a nonword in the artificial language.

The file sound_pacoti_pair1 illustrates the two forms in sequence, in the order pacóti – pacòti (i.e. word – nonword).

The file sound_pacoti_pair2 illustrates the same two forms in the opposite order pacòti – pacóti (i.e. nonword – word).
