Geoffrey K. Pullum: Full Publications List
This is a complete list in forward chronological order of everything
I have published in the past 40 years that could reasonably be said
to have something to do with my professional life as a linguist.
To browse for a particular reference if you know the date, click on
the publication year.
The list is mainly for my own use: I sometimes need to look up what I wrote
and when, so I aim here at bibliographical completeness rather than limiting
myself to what is significant. Trivial magazine pieces rub shoulders
with serious monographs. (Never, I sincerely hope, vice versa.)
There are limits, though: letters to journals and magazines are recorded
only in a very few cases when they deal with linguistic topics and the
journal or magazine has some significance; nothing from online magazines
or blogs is included; and online publications in general are not included
unless they are linguistic and were seriously refereed. Items 253 and
255, for example, are research publications that underwent detailed
refereeing and subsequent revision.
Under these policies, my
TOPIC...COMMENT pieces from 1983 to 1989
do get listed, but blog posts on
Language Log or
Lingua Franca don't.
However, for Language Log posts I have a
list
of my 676 older ‘Language Log Classic’ posts here, and
I maintain a continuously updated
index to
several hundred posts in the new series here; and a
full listing of
Lingua Franca posts is maintained here.
No fiction writing is included below, except for items 120 and 143.
(I grant you that some of the factual articles contain claims now known
to be false, but they were written as honest efforts at non-fiction.)
Where a preliminary version of a piece of research was published one place
and the final version had a different title and a different year, they
mostly get separate entries cross-referencing each other. Where links
to PDFs are included, they are often to pre-final drafts or proofs that
I am legally permitted to show you rather than the final versions guarded
by the fierce dogs of copyright, so check the printed source before
publishing quoted passage.
I did a small revision and reordering of items from the 1980s, correcting
a year-of-publication error, on 2 July 2011; but mostly the reference
numbers in this list have been stable for some time, and I sometimes use
the numbers to point people to particular items.

the poem as published had an error in the proof! However, a revised

you're not going to believe this, but — demand for computability
poetry in Belarus was evidently so great that in order to satisfy the
domestic market a translation into Belorussian was produced:
