Language variation: attitudes

1. What kinds of attitudes towards Scots accents are revealed in this article?
2. What do you think about the different accents you hear in Scotland?  Are there accents associated with people from England that you either like or dislike?
3. Why do people like some accents and dislike others?  Is it really to do with the sounds themselves, or is it more to do with the social characteristics of the speakers?
4. How would you carry out an experiment to study attitudes towards accents in your community?
